I am a teaching member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT) and a qualified Practitioner level 1 of the Tellington TTouch Equine Awareness Method (TTEAM). I hold professional indemnity insurance for all aspects of my work.
I discovered the Alexander Technique when it was recommended to me to sort out a chronic back pain, and I liked it so much and it was so effective that I decided to train as a teacher. I qualified from the Fellside Alexander School in Kendal, Cumbria in July 2004. I have found the Technique to be very helpful in my leisure activities such as running, cycling, horse riding and badminton. As a result of this, I am particularly interested to work with people who do sports and horse riding to help them achieve more in their sport or simply to get more enjoyment out of movement.
My interest in horses goes back a very long way, including working on a stud during my gap year before my first degree. Riding was more sporadic as I moved around for my career, but once I qualified as an Alexander Technique Teacher, I knew I wanted to include some work with horses in my portfolio. I chose TTEAM as it fits with my way of dealing with horses. TTEAM practitioner training takes at least two years. To reach level 1, I attended six week-long intensive courses and completed 15 case studies which were submitted and assessed.
